Summer Bedding Done Right
”You're as cold as ice……..Oh, yes I know” - Foreigner
Oh, how I love a good throw pillow. I’ll take one in every size, for every season. Are they a little polarizing? Maybe—but I’m here to share the secrets behind their style, size, and function.
Hot Nights, Cool Sheets: How to Sleep Better in the Summer
'Tis the season to feel hot—most of the time, anyway. At least, that's the story here in Texas. It's the season for swimming, sitting directly in front of a fan, taking cold showers, and planning your day around indoor activities. But what about nighttime?
Is there anything worse than trying to sleep when you're too hot? Personally, when I wake up roasting in the middle of the night, I’d argue there isn’t.
So, how do we beat the heat when it comes to sleep? Keep reading for practical advice, helpful tips, and one enthusiastic endorsement of a product I absolutely love.
1. Bedding Matters More Than You Think
Not all bedding is created equal—and what kept you cozy in the winter is probably the culprit behind your sweaty summer nights. I personally can't sleep without something to snuggle up with, even when it’s hot. That’s why choosing the right materials is essential.
Your go-to for better summer sleep: natural fabrics.
Think cotton, bamboo, or percale. These breathable materials—with their looser weaves—allow air to flow through, pulling heat away from your body. Bonus points if your sheets are moisture-wicking—keeping sweat off your skin goes a long way in keeping you cool.
2. Science to the Rescue: Cooling Sleep Tech
The good news? The bedding industry sees us hot sleepers and is finally doing something about it. There’s a growing market for products designed specifically to keep us cool, including:
✅ Cooling mattress toppers
✅ Cooling pillows
✅ Down-alternative comforters
✅ And my personal favorite—the BedJet
3. The BedJet: A Hot Sleeper’s Dream Come True
Let me tell you a quick story. A few years ago, my good friend Sarah and I were talking about what to get our husbands for Christmas—you know, the ones who are impossible to shop for. She looked me in the eyes and said, “Get him a BedJet.”
Was I sold immediately? Not exactly.
But then came the guarantee. She promised Chris would love it so much that if he didn’t, she’d buy it back from us—because she needed more for her lake house anyway. What did I have to lose?
We bought it.
We fell in love.
We’ve never looked back.
(And yes, my husband has absolutely invited guests into our bedroom just to show it off. Friends look out for friends, right?)
So here I am, looking out for you. I won’t personally guarantee it—but BedJet does.
4. Out With the Winter, In With the Cool
We don’t wear hats and gloves in July—they’re packed away with the rest of the winter gear. Your bedding should be, too.
Grab yourself an extra storage bin, fold up those flannel sheets and heavy comforters, and tuck them away until the cold returns. Then treat yourself to some breathable, cooling bedding. You deserve to sleep well—even in the heat.
Sweet dreams and cooler nights ahead. 🌙
